Power System Overview
Home energy has been a subject of increased enthusiasm throughout the last twenty years.  Most people consider ”home-built electricity” somewhat beyond them, but the principles of electricity are simple and easy to understand when you can see and feel the application. A Home Energy System consists of a source of energy, a storage mechanism, controls and regulation, and appliances. Your system should be sized according to what you use. Home energy systems can be very dangerous, so please follow every safety measure you see.

Home power systems can be clean, inexpensive and easy to do.  It is our belief that anyone can be in control of where his or her electricity comes from.  There is nothing more rewarding and empowering than designing and building your electrical system right in your own home.  Most of the tools and materials on this site can be found in your local hardware shop or junk pile.  We highly recommend you search your local dump and/or junkyards for the materials required. If you live in a city, do a search on freecycle.org for salvaged parts.
