Northern Mexico is well suited for wind power and other alternative energy sources. Because of the terrain and long distances, grid power is not a viable option for many of the citizens in this area. The Mexican Government has initiated programs to provide and subsidize small solar energy systems for rural areas. These systems are limited in capability, but they are the essential first step towards self-sustainability. Wind energy is the natural progression for small-scale energy production. The State of Coahila, Mexico is covered with mountains, plains, and other attractve features for wind operations. Our goal is to provide information and education in areas as a sort of "seed planting" mechanism. We hope to provide the necessary tools and knowledge to jump-start the Mexican Wind Power movement. So far, we have been met with outstanding enthusiasm. The simplicity and cost are the driving factors. Many people in these areas do not travel to a town or large community for several weeks at a time. Self-repair and low-maintenance options are essential. Boquillas Solar Pump |
